At Bognor Regis a teacher training college was founded in the 1940s to support the expansion of education.

It was inspired by the view on a warm, still summer evening looking across the "lagoon" from the east beach at Selsey towards Bognor Regis.
In 1965 Mr Victor Crabb bought two acres of land in the sea-side village of Pagham, near Bognor Regis.
In 1882 he became the vicar of Felpham near Bognor Regis and in 1888 he paid for the school to move to a new site in Felpham Way.
