It became famous for supplying art supplies to artists such as Cézanne, Degas, Gauguin, Pissarro, Soutine, Modigliani, Kandinsky, Bonnard, and Picasso.
Numerous exhibitions have been presented at the gallery, including the works of Monet, Degas, Cézanne, Renoir, Pissarro, Bonnard, Tanguy, Léger, Picasso, Modigliani, Matisse, Rauschenberg, Sisley, Feininger, Giacometti, and Miró.
The modern day ensemble would be born in 1935 as the Band and Bugles of the French Air Force under Claude Laty, the then director of music, who created the modern day fanfare band and its standard instrumentation as the band created its own fanfare and bugle section with then drum major Maurice Bonnard.
In 1901, Ermend-Bonnard was appointed Organist at Saint-Médard, and subsequently at Notre Dame in Boulogne-sur-Seine.
