The Trophy was an eight-team, single division round-robin competition, based around a fourteen week season starting in May and ending in August.
Wilson was called up to coach the Queensland Firebirds in 2006, after consistent lacklustre performances in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy.

Howard's performances for Kestrels in her debut season were rewarded when she won the Commonwealth Bank Trophy Best New Talent Award at the Netball Australia Awards Dinner for 2007.
