William Peryn

The three sermons published were originally preached at the Hospital of St Anthony in London and are dedicated to Edmund Bonner, Bishop of London.


Bow Church

In 1556 at Bow, during the reign of Mary I of England, and under the authority of Edmund Bonner, Bishop of London, many people were brought by cart from Newgate and burned at the stake in front of Bow Church in one of the many swings of the English Reformation.

Cornish literature

Twelve of Edmund Bonner's Homelies to be read within his diocese of London of all Parsons, vycars and curates (1555; nine of these were by John Harpsfield) were translated into Cornish by John Tregear, and are now the largest single work of traditional Cornish prose.

Henry Man

He was nominated Bishop of Sodor and Man in January 1546 and consecrated at Old St Paul's Cathedral on 14 February 1546 by bishops Bonner, Chetham and Hodgkins.

Richard Rich, 1st Baron Rich

Rich took part in the prosecution of bishops Stephen Gardiner and Edmund Bonner, and had a role in the harsh treatment accorded to the future Mary I of England.
