The special's current owner, DreamWorks Classics, now also owns most of Paramount's short subjects (mostly animated, with some live-action) released between October 1950 and March 1962 through its purchase of Harvey Comics (this also included rights to many of the original characters created by Famous Studios before 1959, such as Casper the Friendly Ghost).
Modern Madcaps is an animated film series produced by Paramount Pictures' Famous Studios animation division between the years 1958 and 1967.
26 episodes were produced by combining old theatrical Famous Studios cartoons and new made for TV shorts (the first Baby Huey cartoons since the 1959 theatrical cartoon "Huey's Father's Day" which was produced by Paramount Pictures' Famous Studios).
The show featured older 1959–62 Famous Studios cartoons, mostly Noveltoons and "Modern Madcaps" which were shown as "Harveytoons", and 26 new Casper the Friendly Ghost episodes that were created specifically for this show (animated by Paramount Cartoon Studios), though all of them originally ran in the first 1963–1964 season.
