New productions of Der ferne Klang have been staged at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin and the Zurich Opera in 2010, as well as in smaller opera houses in Germany.

In spring 2010 Die Gezeichneten had its American premiere at the Los Angeles Opera, while Der ferne Klang enjoyed its first staged American performance at the Bard Summerscape Festival.

When Franz Schreker's opera Der ferne Klang was staged in Leningrad, Glazunov pronounced the opera "Schreckliche Musik!"
He was a pupil of Schoenberg and Franz Schreker, and immensely popular during the 1920s, culminating with his opera Black Masks.
In 1912, he sang the role of the count in Act II of Franz Schreker's Der ferne Klang in its world premiere at the Frankfurt Opera.
