The Carolingian chapel has frescoes by Giovanni d'Asciano with stories of St. Benedict and currently acts as sacristy.

In 1448 he started working, together with Vivarini and Andrea Mantegna, in the decoration of the Ovetari Chapel in Padua, but died soon afterwards.
The project was carried out by his widow, Imperatrice Ovetari, who, in 1448, commissioned the work to a group of artists, which included the elder Giovanni d'Alemagna, Antonio Vivarini (a Venetian late Gothic painter) and two young Paduans, Niccolò Pizzolo and Andrea Mantegna.
The agreement provides that day to day operation of the port is contracted out by the authority to Patrick Ports Hastings, a division of Asciano Ltd.
