In 1999 Galluzzo received the CONI National Literary Award for Il Fiorentino, a biography of Marquis Luigi Ridolfi da Verrazzano, a descendant of Giovanni da Verrazzano and Lorenzo il Magnifico, nobleman of Florence.

Bergen, New Netherland

Explored to The Narrows by Giovanni da Verrazzano, sailing on French expedition in 1524, the area was visited by Spanish and English seafarers during the next century.

Giuseppe Verdi Monument

He was the founding editor of the Il Progresso Italo-Americano Italian-American newspaper, and used its pages to raise funds for this and several other memorials including the Columbus Circle monument, an 1888 monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi in Washington Square Park, a monument to Giovanni da Verrazzano (1909) and the 1921 monument to Dante Alighieri in Dante Square.
