He was awarded a degree for piano performance in 1982, followed in 1989 by an advanced degree (Kand. Nauk), in the history of music from the National Academy of Music of Ukraine (Kiev Conservatory of Music).
From 1965 to 1970 Yehven studied composition with Boris Lyatoshynsky and Myroslav Skoryk at the Kiev Conservatory.

He has worked as a music editor, a chairman of the Ukrainian Composers' Union, and has been working as a professor of composition in the Kiev Conservatory, now the National Music Academy of Ukraine, since 1998.

The group was organized in 2007, the year when vocalist - Kate Hapochka, arrived from Khmelnytskyi to study at the Kiev Conservatory, and decided to form the group.
