He completed his Ph.D in 2007 "A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud", using the university owned telescope to complete it.
It was discovered on 14 August 2013 by amateur astronomer Koichi Itagaki in Japan, and confirmed by the Liverpool Telescope on La Palma.
