Sites identified by BirdLife International as being important for Buff-breasted Buttonquail conservation are the Iron and McIlwraith Ranges, and the Morehead River of Far North Queensland.
Dockrillia wassellii or the Furrowed Pencil Orchid (previously, Dendrobium wassellii), is found only in the Iron Range and McIlwraith Range on Cape York Peninsula, Australia, at 100-400 metres altitude.
It is found from 0-600 metres in a relatively small restricted area in the McIlwraith Range, and from the Bloomfield River to the Kirrama Range, in Far North Queensland, Australia.
