This place is a port, where Moisés Bertoni accomplished to compile a great variety of plants from the entire world and who dedicated his life to the preservation of the nature.

Doctor Moisés Bertoni

It was named Doctor Moisés Bertoni on July 27, 1931 by the Decree Nº 40.843, stated by the Executive Power, signed by the president José P. Guggiari, in memory of Moises Bertoni, a great Swiss investigator.

Moisés Santiago Bertoni

Plant usual Paraguay: Alto Parana and Misiones; nomenclature, characters, properties applications according to research by the author, or data from credible persons or make use of them Indians, including a study of physical and industrial timber.

Participates of the country's public life, and having conducted research for proper cultivation in Paraguay, was invited by the Paraguayan president, General Juan Bautista Egusquiza (1845–1902), to form an Agricultural Institute in Asunción.

On March 30 they landed in Buenos Aires, and interviewed with the chairman of the Nation, General Julio Argentino Roca, who provided the means to travel and colonize the province of Misiones.

In the year 1896, President of Paraguay Juan Bautista Egusquiza calls him to found the National School of Agriculture, in Asunción, and runs for nine years.

Rafael Franco

His father was a professor of mathematics at the School of Agronomy, founded by Moisés Santiago Bertoni (worked in the Botanical Garden, and in 1940 she was transferred to San Lorenzo).


Scientific Monument Moises Bertoni

This monument was the home of wise Swiss Moses Santiago Bertoni (born 1857 Lottigna, Ticino, Switzerland, died 1929 Foz de Iguazu, Paraguay), which eventually settled in this area while still young, and provided invaluable services to the people and Paraguayan Government.
