GB Railways

In July 2003 FirstGroup made a takeover offer for GB Railways, offering £2.50 per share offer, with further deferred consideration of £2.00 if the Greater Anglia Rail Franchise was won and £0.50 if either the Northern Rail or Wales & Borders franchises were won.

Northern Rail

As part of a trial of the feasibility of the tram-train concept, Northern will operate newly built electric tram-train units between Rotherham and Sheffield after plans for a diesel tram-train trial between Huddersfield and Sheffield were deemed not to be economically viable for a trial.

Bamford railway station serves the village of Bamford in the Derbyshire Peak District, in England and is owned by Northern Rail.

Billingham railway station

The railway station is located on the Durham Coast Line and is operated by Northern Rail who provide all of the station's passenger services.

Dore and Totley railway station

The station is served by the Northern Rail service between Sheffield and Manchester, East Midlands Trains (EMT) service from Liverpool to Norwich and the First TransPennine Express (TPE) service between Manchester and Cleethorpes, all three running via the Hope Valley Line.

Hope Valley Line

Passenger services on the line are currently operated by Northern Rail (previously First North Western), East Midlands Trains (previously Central Trains) and TransPennine Express (previously Arriva Trains Northern).

Lostock Hall railway station

It is on the East Lancashire Line and is managed by Northern Rail, who also provide all passenger trains serving it.

New Clee railway station

The station originally had two platforms, since reduced to one and is served by trains on the Barton Line, operated by Northern Rail.
