Its present boundaries, as at the 2009 election, take in mostly urban, semi-urban and industrial areas west of the Pacific Motorway extending from Mount Warren Park and Windaroo in southern Logan to Coomera and Oxenford in the outer northern Gold Coast.
The section from Cowan to Kariong, where the Holt-Bragg Bridge is, follows a scenic winding route, however, with the majority of traffic using the Pacific Motorway.
Currently, transit lanes on the Pacific Motorway enable better connections between the South East Busway, Springwood and Loganholme with additional stations in between at Underwood and Paradise Road, for the benefit of Logan City Bus Service passengers travelling to the city.
For decades, it has been desired to construct a Freeway standard bypass of Sydney as part of the National Highway, connecting the Pacific Motorway to the Hume Motorway to allow through traffic to be separated from local traffic.
