Tony Fall

Fall died after a heart attack on 1 December 2007 while a member of the organisation team of the East African Safari Classic Rally in his hotel room in Tanzania, leaving his wife Pat and two sons from a previous marriage.


Kampala Airport

Possibly the last use of the airstrip by fixed-wing aircraft was in the mid-1970s by members of the Safari Rally Committee who obtained special consent to operate from the site with a Cessna 310.

Mawe Mbili

The clearing has been part of the route of the 2007,2008 and 2009 Safari rally as the track leading through it leads from the badlands boundary track of Delamere Estates Soysambu ranch around the back of scout hat hill, past a helicopter landing marker built by the British forces in 1955 at the time of the Mau Mau rebellion.

Ove Andersson

After the inauguration of the World Rally Championship in 1973, Andersson, driving mainly a Toyota Celica, achieved seven podium places in his 28 outings in the series and won the 1975 Safari Rally in a Peugeot 504, co-driven by Arne Hertz.

Actress and pop idol Yuka Ōnishi (大西結花) was the spokesperson for the ad campaign, while an all female motorcycle racing team (Team Angela) raced a Turbocharged Cervo in the Safari Rally.
