Numerous wildlife species can be seen including elephants, gaur, water buffaloes, tigers, panthers, sloth bears, pangolins, Black-headed Orioles, crocodiles, Green Pigeons, civet cats, Dhole, Sambar and 31 groups of endangered lion-tailed macaques.
Other than the gibbons the wild life in the reserve reported are: Great Barbet (Megalaima virens); Grey-headed Parakeet (Psittacula finschii); grey leaf monkeys (Semnopithecus); Crab-eating Mongoose (Herpestes urva), tiger (Panthera tigris); smaller cats; Dhole (Cuon alpinus), bears (two types); otters; sambar (Cervus unicolor); and wild cattle (Gaur).
After a run in with a Sloth bear family, and two failed vigils over two different human kills, Anderson comes across the one-eyed tiger by chance when a Sambar deer sounds its warning.
