The team has performed in many places outside of poetry slam including an event hosted by Democracy Now, sharing a stage with Amy Goodman, opening for recording artists Les Nubians, sharing a stage with the hip-hop group Dead Prez, and at such local events as Denver's Black Arts Festival, The Poet As Muse, Club Reign, and Café Cultura.

The group released their self-titled debut album Black Market Militia that same year, with production from Godz Wrath and Bronze Nazareth, and guest appearances from dead prez and Abiodun Oyewole of The Last Poets.
Growing up and to this day Rashad says he listens or listened to Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, OutKast, No Limit Records, Cash Money Records, Erykah Badu, The Fugees, KRS-One, Dead Prez, Three 6 Mafia, 8Ball & MJG, UGK, R. Kelly, Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, James Brown, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Gorillaz and Danger Mouse.

He has produced and worked with artists, including Jahdan Blakkamoore, Sizzla, Midnite, Bajah + Dry Eye Crew, and reggae artists Pressure Buss Pipe, Lutan Fyah, Yami Bolo, Natty King, Norrisman, Khari Kill, Marlon Asher, Abijah and worked with hip hop artists, including David Banner, M1 of Dead Prez and Steele of Smif-n-Wessun.
Rucker has recorded and performed with many notable artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Roberts, Wes Anderson, Wycliff Gordon, Herb Harris, Scotty Barnhart, Phillip Harper, Eric Lewis, Stephon Harris, Eddie Henderson, Sam and Dave, Steve Marley and Dead Prez.
This led to Makonnen creating music videos and EPKs for an array of artists including: Ne-Yo, Luther Campbell, Lil' Kim, C-Bo, and most notably dead prez for whom he worked with several times and directed the critically acclaimed music video, "Mind Sex".
