The Mechatronics Institute (IMTRONICS) is responsible for the promotion of research and services for innovative applications in areas of Micromechanics, Materials, Nanomaterials, Nanostructures, Information and Telematic Systems, Robotics and control Systems, Embedded Systems and Sensors and Biomechatronics.
Professor Hill’s research encompasses fundamental structural and reactivity studies, Catalysis, functional nanomaterials (Nanotechnology), antiviral chemotherapy and solar energy conversion (Artificial Photosynthesis).
Prof. Dean Ho, Dr. Houjin Huang, and Dr. Erik Pierstorff at Northwestern University, in collaboration with Dr. Eiji Osawa at The NanoCarbon Research Institute in Japan, have demonstrated that nanomaterials can shuttle chemotherapy drugs to cells without producing the negative effects of today's delivery agents.
