He was hired for the 2007–08 season by the Jazz as a special assistant coach and to help Andrei Kirilenko and others with their shooting.
After the retirement of long-time Jazz anchors Malone and Stockton, Sloan coached a younger group of budding stars, including Carlos Boozer, Andrei Kirilenko and later, Deron Williams.
