The new station will be owned by The Banff Centre, who included the station as part of the deal to acquire tourist information stations CFPE-FM and CFPF-FM from the Friends of Banff.
Founded in 1992, the Del Sol String Quartet began its life in residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts, followed by residency at San Francisco State University in association with the Alexander String Quartet.
He is Governor-Emeritus of the Banff Centre, where he was National Co-Chair of the Centre's successful $130 million campus revitalization campaign.
Tippett was a member of the editorial board of Arts Canada, Art Focus and an Arts Journalist Fellow at The Banff Centre in 1988.
In 2005 he was awarded an Arts Council International Writing Fellowship at the Banff Centre in Canada.

He has acted as an adviser or consultant for a number of organizations including the Canada Council regarding ceramic art; the Banff Centre for their facilities and program development; the Regina Wascana Centre Authority on its Fine Arts Committee; and as a member of the Board of the Canadian Conference of the Arts.
The system was first introduced to the international community at the Paddy Crean International Stage Combat Conferences held at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, in 1998.
