Before the merger, Bendigo Bank delivered its products and services through almost 900 outlets Australia-wide, including more than 160 company owned branches, 220 community owned Community Bank branches of Bendigo Bank, 100 agencies and 400 Elders outlets.
The Gateway Plaza is situated on the corner of the Bellarine Peninsula and Melaluka road, it is home to Coles, Mc Donald's, Bendigo Bank, Panache and other shops.
It has two pubs, community centre, cafe, a general store, a Rural Transaction Centre (with Internet café, Bendigo Bank, library, daycare and other services), a small licensed IGA and bakery, a swimming pool, a hairdresser as well as a monthly newspaper, the Newstead Echo.
In 1982 the Bank of New South Wales changed its name to the Westpac Banking Corporation, in 1996 the building was occupied by Challenge Bank and from 2000 the Bendigo Bank.
