In the year 2012 The Heart Archive by the French artist Christian Boltanski expanded the scope of the IHME Contemporary Art Festival to four Finnish cities.

Nowadays the castle houses the subprefecture buildings, and since 1985 the museum of contemporary art where one can admire the works of Dadaist artist, Raoul Hausmann, and works of international artists from the 1960s to today, such as Giuseppe Penone, Arte Povera, Christian Boltanski or Tony Cragg.
The museum collects works by contemporary artists including Andrea Di Marco, Alessandro Bazan, Giovanni Anselmo, Emilio Isgrò, Domenico Mangano, Antonio Sanfilippo, Carla Accardi, Christian Boltanski, Croce Taravella, Francesco De Grandi, Francesco Simeti, Fulvio Di Piazza, Giulia Piscitelli, Laboratorio Saccardi, Luca Vitone, Paola Pivi, Pietro Consagra, Richard Long and Salvo.
The Armory's first three years of artistic programming presented work in partnership with other cultural institutions such as Lincoln Center and the Whitney Museum of American Art before launching its first solo exhibitions with Ernesto Neto's anthropodino in 2009 and Christian Boltanski’s No Man's Land in 2010.
Amongst the artists who have appeared at the festival are Ariane Mnouchkine, Peter Brook, Bill Viola, Patrice Chéreau, Ilya Kabakov, Peter Sellars, Christian Boltanski, Bill Frisell, Patti Smith, Elvis Costello, Akram Khan (dancer), Cecilia Bartoli and Thomas Hampson.
