Isaiah L. Potts (1784?- after 1843) was born in Loudoun County, Virginia and lived in Union County, Kentucky and Hardin County, Illinois.

In July 1862, he was temporarily detached from his infantry company and assigned command of an artillery battery in Winchester, Virginia.

As governor, he was heavily involved in Indian affairs, as well as working to get several new frontier towns chartered, including Missoula.
He was counsel to the New York Senate Committee on Affairs of the City of New York during the 1945 session, and was elected as a Republican to the Eightieth Congress, holding office from January 3, 1947 to January 3, 1949.

He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1948 to the Eighty-first Congress and resumed the practice of law.
Potts had a farm in Pittstown, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and from this base he was recruited to become the Republican candidate for the House of Representatives in New Jersey's 4th congressional district.
Any political opposition to Israel within the U.S. was however undermined by American politician Fiorello H. LaGuardia, pioneer of identity politics, and Canadian journalist Isaiah L. Kenen, founder of lobby group the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
His family was active in the Zionist movement and his father established the first Bnei Zion club in Toronto and attended the first meetings of the World Zionist Congress.
William Edward Potts was born on 9 November 1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He served as a platoon leader and then commanding officer of Troop B. On 13 September 1944 Potts was transferred to the 42nd Mechanized Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron stationed near Coincourt, France.

He attended the Oklahoma Military Academy (now named Rogers State University) and was the highest ranking graduate in 1941.
