Karl Camillo Schmidt-Hellerau (1 February 1873 in Zschopau - 6 November 1948 in Hellerau) was a German carpenter, furniture manufacturer and social reformer.

In 1950 some former members of the Deutscher Künstlerbund – Karl Hofer, Willi Baumeister, Karl Hartung and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff – re-established it.
In 1930, Rotten co-founded a school at Hellerau just outside Dresden, where a garden city was established shortly after 1900 as part of a reform movement advocating modern housing.
In Hellerau were taught a lot of people, among them Prince Serge Wolkonsky, Vera Alvang (Griner), Valeria Cratina, Jelle Troelstra (son of Pieter Jelles Troelstra), Inga and Ragna Jacobi, Albert Jeanneret (Le Corbusier's brother), Mariam Ramberg, and Placido de Montelio.
Between 1919 and 1923, Schlosser worked as a polisher, stainer and assembler in the " Hellerau German Workshops" ("Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau"), and was also a member of the works council there.
The museum's collection of art of the early modern era include examples of New Mexican Modernism as well as works by Europeans artists such as Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Francis Picabia, and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff.
