5 unusual facts about Karl Philipp von Wrede


Friedrich, Freiherr von Zoller

As a major in the Wrede battalion he fought against the French at the Battle of Möskirch on the night of 5/6 March 1800 he was badly wounded and lost an eye.

Heinrich Jakob Fried

Being patronized by Prince Karl von Wrede, he settled at Munich in 1842, and became conservator of the Artistic Society in 1845.

Karl Philipp von Wrede

From Biburg, he moved on Kirchdorf and attacked Frederick Bianchi's reinforced brigade.

He pushed back Tyrolean irregulars at Lofer on 11 May and defeated Franz Fenner's mixed regulars and Tyroleans at Waidring the next day.
