The film was Phalke's second feature film after the 1913 Raja Harishchandra, which was the first Indian full-length feature film.
Phalke produced four films in succession under the banner "Production Company" including Mohini Bhasmasur, Savitri Satyavan (1914), Satyavadi Raja Harishchandra (1917) and Lanka Dahan (1917).
