At the start of the 2007–08 season it was announced that Nike and Northern Rock were to sponsor the Eagles, bringing in more money to the club.

In addition, Flournoy picked up the BBL Coach of the Year and former Villanova Wildcat, Andrew Sullivan, was voted BBL Player of the Year.


2004–05 British Basketball League season

Newcastle Eagles won their first title in 13 years after upsetting Brighton in the BBL Trophy Final, which was played at The Brighton Centre.

Richard Midgley

The following month, upon the recommendation of GB team mate Andrew Sullivan, Midgley signed for Newcastle Eagles.

Troon Tornadoes

In the summer of 2006, several players formed part of a mass exodus towards professional basketball clubs including Dan Wardrope (to Guildford Heat), Brian McCotter (to Newcastle Eagles), and Andy Pearson (to Scottish Rocks).
