2008–09 Oldham Athletic A.F.C. season

Oldham Athletic was originally scheduled to play their first pre-season friendly versus Belgian First Division side, Cercle Brugge, on 15 July 2008, but the game was cancelled due to disputes between the two clubs.

Barrie Lynch

Born in Northfield, Birmingham, Lynch played youth football for Rubery Hill School and Cross Castle, before playing professionally in England and the United States for Aston Villa, Oldham Athletic, the Atlanta Chiefs and the Portland Timbers.

Bunny Bell

On Boxing Day 1935, he scored nine times in Tranmere's 13–4 defeat of Oldham Athletic, at that time an English record.
