On Sunday, 26 April 1478, during High Mass at the Duomo before a crowd of 10,000, the Medici brothers were assaulted.

According to tradition it was here that the first High Mass was celebrated in London, outside the chapels of ambassadors, since the time of King James II of England.
The sacring bell, also known as the sanctus bell, is the bell which rings when the Host is elevated at the celebration of High Mass.
- On Monday last, at eleven o'clock a solemn Mass of Requiem for this good and exemplary Catholic, whose demise we had to record last week, was celebrated (presenti corpore) in this church by the Bishop of Amyela, the Very Rev. G. Last (Canon of Westminster) being Assistant Priest, and the Revv.
The choir performed the Solemn Mass (for 2 organs and mixed choir) by Louis Vierne together with wellknown organist David di Fiore (USA) in October 2004.
A solemn mass of requiem, in his home town of Kfarsghab was presided by the Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir, honored by the presence of the Minister of Information, M. Tarek Mitri representing the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Michel Suleiman, the family and friends.
