Belling previously hosted a Sunday-morning television panel, Belling and Company, on WISN-TV (Channel 12) until 2000, when it moved to WDJT (Channel 58).

KOAT is also one of six ABC affiliates and one of three Hearst-owned ABC stations to have an hour-long 10 p.m. newscast, along with KITV in Honolulu and WISN in Milwaukee; as well as KRGV in Weslaco, Texas, KSTP in Saint Paul, Minnesota, KIFI in Idaho Falls, Idaho and WEAR in Pensacola, Florida.
The Lottery's nightly drawings, starting in 1991 with the introduction of Supercash! (a $250,000 daily six-number game when it began) also took place at WISN-TV, and were usually drawn by its employees not part of the station's news department, or by employees of WISN Radio and WLTQ, which were owned by Hearst at the time and shared the WISN studios.
The WTMJ-TV and WISN-TV towers were nearby, and locating the tower there meant that Milwaukee TV viewers could point their antennas in the same general direction.
As part of the deal, the station will air all Badgers sports broadcasts, with football and men's basketball being simulcast with sister station WRIT-FM and the Badger Daily Show segment being shared with WISN.
Offers to affiliate with the network had already been turned down by NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV (channel 4), ABC affiliate WISN-TV (channel 12, which had been affiliated with CBS from 1961 to 1977), WVTV (channel 18; which had earlier been a CBS owned-and-operated station in the 1950s), WCGV (channel 24) and WJJA (channel 49, now WMLW-TV).
All four stations share studio facilities located on South 60th Street in Milwaukee (near West Allis), and its transmitter is located in Milwaukee's Lincoln Park (next to the transmitter belonging to ABC affiliate WISN-TV).
