It is stated that when the execution began, Bhai Mati Das started reciting the Japji Sahib and the voice continued to come from the two parts of his body till the prayer was completed.

Gurumaa conducted series of discourses on various spiritual texts of Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims, budhists like Bhagavad Gita, japji sahib, rehraas sahib, jaap sahib of Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Gita, Shankaracharya's Nirvana Shatkam and Bhaja Govindam, Narada Bhakti Sutra and poetries of sufi mystics like Baba Bulle Shah, baba farid and Rumi.
Linguistically, however, "Eckankar" derives from Ekankār or Ik Oankār (Punjabi Eka Omkāra), a name for God given by Guru Nānak and the very first word of the Mūl Mantra (recited everyday by Sikhs), the Japjī Sahib, and the Sri Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh holy scriptures).
