Ellsworth Air Force Base

Fort Myer

As a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) initiative to create more efficiency of efforts, the Army’s Fort Myer and the Marines’ Henderson Hall became the first Joint Base in the Department of Defense.

Midwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility

The prison opened as part of the Base Realignment and Closure with the consolidating (and closing) of prisons in Lackland Air Force Base, Fort Sill and Fort Knox.

RAF Kimbolton

Wurtsmith AFB, named after Major General Paul B. Wurtsmith was closed by BRAC action in 1993 and the 379th Bombardment Wing was disestablished the same year.

The base was closed 30 September 1997 after being selected for closure by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission in 1995 and is now a research and business park called Reese Technology Center.
