Casomorphin

β-casomorphins are found in cheeses made from bovine milk; their concentrations are higher in mould cheeses (e.g. Brie, Rokpol) than in semi-hard cheeses (e.g. Edam, Gouda and Kasztelan).

In the first century CE Columella referred to a particular breed of cattle raised here, and Pliny the Elder praised its sheep’s milk cheese in his Natural History.

Doc Scurlock

After they closed the cheese factory in the spring of 1876, Scurlock and his best friend, Bowdre, returned to Lincoln County, New Mexico, where they bought a ranch on public domain land on the Rio Ruidoso from L. G. Murphy on credit, which made them victims of the L. G. Murphy & Co.

Dunlop cheese

The Dunlop Cheese factory was sited near Dunlop railway station in what is now a housing estate, the memory of Dunlop cheese production being kept alive by the name 'Creamery Row'.

Salt from the saltpans at Saltcoats was often used in the manufacture of Dunlop cheese and it contained magnesia and Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate) which gave the cheese a pleasant and distinctive taste; indeed it was debated whether cheese made using cheaper imported mined salt could be called 'Dunlop' cheese.

Green cheese

John Maynard Keynes made a reference comparing a green cheese to the moon in his book The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money.

Gypsy Grind

In 1995, the band decided to go further and auditioned at the underground venue Club Dredd, which launched the careers of artists including Grey Houndz, Cheese, Eraserheads, Barbie's Cradle (formerly known as Greem Tea, Hungry Young Poets), Moonstar 88, Itchi Worms, Put3ka, NTOTN, Wolfgang, River Maya, and Color it Red.

I Am the Cheese

I Am the Cheese was released as a movie in 1983, directed by Robert Jiras and starring Robert MacNaughton, Hope Lange, Don Murray, Lee Richardson, Cynthia Nixon and Robert Wagner.

It is used to describe the loss of Father Philip Eno's state of mind to the Widow Gilhooley when the priest refers to cheddar cheese as John Cleese.

Kitchen Kabaret

Mr. Dairy Good is a singing milk carton who emerges from a refrigerator holding an old fashioned radio-style floor microphone close to his mouth, crooning introductions to three dairy products: Miss Cheese, Miss Yogurt, and Miss Ice Cream - in the style of 1930s costume extravaganzas.

Livno cheese

Livno cheese is a cheese first produced in the 19th century in the area of Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina on the basis of French technology of making Gruyère cheese.

Lymeswold cheese

In Episode 3 ("Casualties"), Series 3, of the British sitcom Men Behaving Badly, Gary (played by Martin Clunes) refers to the cheese impressions that he was discussing with his flatmate Tony (played by Neil Morrissey), pointing at Deborah (played by Leslie Ash) and blurting at her, "Lymeswold!"

Manchego

Cheeses that meet the DO requirements carry a casein tab that is applied when the cheese is in the mould and bear a distinctive label that is issued by the Manchego Cheese Denomination of Origin Regulating Council; this carries the legend Queso Manchego, a serial number, and artwork depicting Don Quixote de La Mancha.

Metrication in Chile

In the film Pulp Fiction it is true that because of the metric system in France, this sandwich was called Royale with cheese.

In September 2011 it announced that it would increase the size of the Lockerbie creamery by 50% to produce 37,000 tonnes of cheese a year, into a UK market which consumes 600,000 tonnes of cheese a year.

Mish

Mish may be similar to cheese that has been found in the tomb of the First DynastyPharoah Hor-Aha at Saqqara, from 3200 BC.

Muesli

Other ingredients commonly included are additional grated or chopped fresh fruit (e.g., bananas, apples, berries, grapes, mango), dried fruit, milk products (e.g., fresh milk, yogurt, cream, condensed milk, fromage frais, quark, cottage cheese, or nondairy milk substitutes), lemon juice, ground nuts, seeds, spices (especially cinnamon), honey and muesli mix.

Stracciatella

As translated by Jeremy Parzen, Martino's recipe for zanzarelli reads: "To make ten servings: take eight eggs and a half libra of grated cheese, and a grated loaf of bread and mix together. Then take a pot of meat broth made yellow with saffron and place over heat; and when it begins to boil, pour the mixture into a pot and stir with a spoon. When the dish has begun to thicken, remove from heat and serve in bowls, topped with spices."

Suspicious Cheese Lords

From 1998 to 2005, the Cheese Lords served as artists in residence at Mount St. Sepulchre Franciscan Monastery, the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C. The Cheese Lords assisted in developing "An Evening at the Tabard Inn", an event for the Smithsonian Institution's Resident Associates program, for which the group provided music contemporary to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and related to the theme of pilgrimage.

Swiss cheese

Swiss cheese is a generic name for several related varieties of North American cheese which resemble Emmental cheese, a yellow, medium-hard cheese that originated in the area around Emmental, in Switzerland.

Tête de Moine is currently produced by fewer than 10 cheese dairies of the Jura Mountains area of Porrentruy, District of Franches-Montagnes, both situated in the Canton of Jura, as well as in Moutier and Courtelary, in the Bernese Jura.

Whitestone Cheese

Other varieties made include Waitaki Camembert, Whitestone Farmhouse, Whitestone Brie, Mt Domet Double Cream Brie, Moeraki Bay Blue, Highland Blue, Totara Tasty, Manuka Feta, and four sheep's milk cheeses (notably Monte Cristo).
