Moody Gardens

Moody Gardens features three main pyramid attractions: the Aquarium Pyramid, which is one of the largest in the region and holds many species of fish and other marine animals; the Rainforest Pyramid, which contains tropical plants, animals, birds, butterflies, reptiles, and a variety of other rainforest animals including free-roaming monkeys and two-toed sloths; and the Discovery Pyramid, which focuses on science-oriented exhibits and activities.

Artan­the caudata, a synonym for Piper marginatum, the cake bush, Anesi wiwiri, marigold pepper, Ti Bombé in Creole or Hinojo, a plant species found in moist, shady spots in the Amazon rainforest in Surinam, French Guiana and Brazil

Aila Inkeri Keto AO (born 14 March 1943) is founder and President of the Rainforest Conservation Society in Queensland, Australia, now known as the Australia Rainforest Conservation Society.

Alangium villosum subsp. polyosmoides

Fruit ripens from September to February and is eaten by rainforest birds, including the Rose-crowned Fruit-Dove, Topknot Pigeon and Wompoo Fruit-Dove.

Allyn River

The course of the river flows through World Heritage listed high altitude rainforest, noted for its Antarctic Beech; and then through lower altitude subtropical rainforest, including trees such as Red Cedar and Small leaf fig.

Cool Earth

Cool Earth was founded in 2007 by the businessman Johan Eliasch and MP Frank Field out of their common interest in protecting the rainforest.

Coral Magazine

Published bimonthly by Reef to Rainforest Media LLC in Charlotte, Vermont, Coral is edited by James M. Lawrence, with a board of advisors composed of prominent aquarium authors and marine scientists, including Dr. Andrew Bruckner of NOAA, Dr. Gerald R. Allen of Conservation International, Julian Sprung, and Dr. Sylvia Earle, oceanographer.

Diospyros mabacea

Found at only thirteen sites in sub tropical rainforest near Murwillumbah and Mullumbimby (28° S), growing at low altutide.

Domatium

Domatia are also found in some rainforest tree species in the families Alangiaceae, Elaeocarpaceae, Fabaceae, Icacinaceae, Meliaceae, Rubiaceae, Sapindaceae and Simaroubaceae.

It roosts in abandoned hanging Yellow-throated Scrubwren and Brown Gerygone nests located in rainforest gullies on small first and second order streams.

Google Earth Outreach

In June 2008 a training was given to 20 indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest, such as the Suruí, to help them preserve their culture and protect their rainforest territory from deforestation.

Melanotaenia affinis

It is commonly found in the Markham, Ramu, and Sepik Rivers; their preferred habitat includes clear rainforest streams, swamps, pools, and lagoons abundant in vegetation and submerged logs.

Mitchell's rainforest snail

This critically endangered snail is now largely restricted to a range of less than 5 km² of remnant lowland rainforest, scattered around the Tweed, Byron and Ballina Shires of northern New South Wales.

Mount Worth State Park

The wet, mountain rainforest of Mountain Ash (with at least one specimen 90 metres tall, 7 metres wide and approaching 300 years old), Blackwood and Mountain Grey Gum supports a wide variety of plants and animals, such as the tree ferns, wombat, possum, platypus, Crimson Rosella, lyrebird and many others.

New Zealand State Highway 67

The road passes through alternating areas of farmland and temperate rainforest vegetation as it passes the settlements of Waimangaroa (turn right here for Denniston), Granity (turn right here for Millerton, Stockton and Stockton Mine), Ngakwau and Hector.

Ocean Island Inn

Sappho, Washington

Traveling by steamer from Seattle, they landed at an Indian settlement called Pysht on the Strait of Juan de Fuca and hiked inland 20 miles through the rainforest to their claim.

Seoni, Madhya Pradesh

Rudyard Kipling used the forests in the vicinity of Seoni, or as he spells it, Seeonee, as the setting for the Mowgli stories in The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book (1894–1895), although the area is not an actual rainforest.

Stotts Island Nature Reserve
