U.S. Route 98

It bypasses Lucedale to the north, and an interchange with Mississippi Highway 63 provides four-laned access to Pascagoula on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, increasing road capacity for hurricane evacuations.

As of 2005, the highway's western terminus is near Washington, Mississippi, at U.S. Route 61.

In 1999, the western end of U.S. 98 was truncated to its junction with U.S. 84 at Bude, Mississippi although it continued to be signed concurrently with U.S. 84 to Washington, Mississippi until the late 2000s.

After the intersection with Alternate County Road 35 it ran parallel to a CSX railroad line, and passes by the old Dade City Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot.

U.S. Route 31

U.S. Route 31 is a long north–south highway connecting northern Michigan to southern Alabama, with its northern terminus at Interstate 75 near Mackinaw City, Michigan, and southern terminus at the combined U.S. Route 90 & U.S. Route 98 at Spanish Fort, Alabama.

U.S. Route 331

It currently runs for 151 miles (243 km) from Montgomery, Alabama at U.S. Route 80 and U.S. Route 82 to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida east of Fort Walton Beach at U.S. Route 98.

U.S. Route 49

Various state highway interchanges and junctions are encountered before the route passes near Camp Shelby, then through an interchange with U.S. Route 98 just south of Hattiesburg.
