Awsworth

Awsworth once had a station on the Great Northern (later LNER) line from Nottingham to Derby which crossed the Erewash Valley to Ilkeston over the Bennerley Viaduct, closed in September 1964.

Near the junction it crossed a viaduct almost half a mile in length across the Giltbrook valley, known variously as Awsworth Viaduct, Giltbrook Viaduct, Kimberley Viaduct, but more commonly in the local area as the "Forty Bridges," though the actual combined number of arches and girder spans was 43.

Compton and Shawford

Shawford is notable for having the longest railway viaduct in Hampshire (now known as Hockley Railway Viaduct).

Figueroa Street Tunnels

Connections were added in 1937 to the Figueroa Street Viaduct, 1940 to the Arroyo Seco Parkway (known until 2010 as the Pasadena Freeway), and 1953 to the Four Level Interchange.

It merges into SR 110 at Alpine Street in Chinatown, south of the tunnels, and splits in Highland Park, north of the Figueroa Street Viaduct over the Los Angeles River.

Highland Main Line

Other distinct features on the route include the viaducts at Culloden and Tomatin, the spectacular mountain pass at Drumochter and the severe gradients encountered in both directions, particularly the extended climb from Inverness to the Slochd summit which averages around 1 in 60 the whole way.

Horatio Barber

Barber was one of the first aviation pioneers and within a few years of the first powered flight he leased a railway arch in Battersea to design and produce aircraft.

Luxulyan

Luxulyan is best known for Luxulyan Valley, a steep sided and thickly wooded stretch of the valley of the River Par that contains a major concentration of early 19th century industrial remains, including a combined Aqueduct and Viaduct.

Newstead, Scottish Borders

In 1865 the magnificent Leaderfoot Viaduct of nineteen arches was constructed for the St Boswells Junction to Reston section of the Berwickshire Railway, a line which closed in 1948.

Former inhabitants include: the ancient Selgovae; the Roman army at Trimontium (Newstead); monks and masons, builders of nearby Melrose Abbey and, more recently, navvies working on the impressive railway viaduct at Leaderfoot.

Wetheral

The Newcastle to Carlisle Railway has a station here at the west end of Corby Bridge (popularly known as 'Wetheral Viaduct') over the Eden which acts also as a footbridge connecting with Great Corby.


Baclaran LRT Station

The station is located on the last stretches of Taft Avenue, in the Pasay City portion of Baclaran, and, like all other stations on the LRT-1, Baclaran terminal is above-ground on viaduct.

Barentin Viaduct

The building of the Viaduct is fictionalized in Julian Barnes's short story "Junction," published in his 1996 volume Cross Channel.

Bartley MRT Station

This station is being built in tandem with the Outer Ring Road System project which consists of extending Bartley Road to Eunos Road via a viaduct over the part of the underground site of the Kim Chuan Depot.

East Lancashire Railway 1844–59

In the end the ELR won its bid, but had to landscape its embankment (which later became the dividing line between Avenham and Miller Parks), make an ornamental arch for carriages and pedestrians crossing under the railway, and build a footbridge on the river viaduct.

It was built mainly to serve Howbeach Colliery; a goods station was situated at Blakeney as well as a six arched viaduct to carry the railway over the A48 road.

The dominating feature of the area is the viaduct carrying the Sheffield—Huddersfield Penistone Line railway over the valley of the River Colne from the station at Lockwood to Springwood Junction and tunnel where the line continues under Greenhead to arrive at Huddersfield railway station.
