Alexander Lubimov

In 1895-1901 Alexander Lubimov studied in Central School of Technical Drawing (now known as Saint Petersburg State Art and Industry Academy named after Alexander von Stieglitz), then in Drawing School of the Society for Promotion of Arts.

Stieglitz received numerous awards, including the Order of St. Stanislav of the 3rd degree, the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree and the Order of St. Anna of the 2nd degree.

In 1840–1850 he successfully sold six 4% government loans to finance the contsruction of the Moscow – Saint Petersburg Railway and secured a significant foreign loan at the height of the Crimean War.

The project had its beginnings in 1878 when Baron Alexander von Stieglitz (1814–84), a millionaire philanthropist, donated funds to build a museum for the benefit of students of the Central School of Engineering Design, which had been established by him earlier.
