Anna, a somewhat introverted woman, becomes obsessed with the orthopedic surgeon who helped with her recuperation following a car accident.
She taught courses in Eastern European history – with focus on modern Polish and Russian history – at the University of Ottawa and the University of Toronto in Canada, before landing a long-term career in the U.S. at the University of Kansas in 1965.
Anna Harkness also made gifts to Hampton and Tuskegee Institutes, the New York Public Library, the Museum of Natural History in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Zoological Society and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

She won a César Award for Best Actress for her role in Se souvenir des belles choses (2001), and has been nominated a further six times, for Beau fixe (1992), Le Hussard sur le toit (1995), La Femme défendue (1997), Les Sentiments (2003), Entre ses mains (2005) and Anna M. (2007).
Charles F. Urschel was born in Washington Township, Hancock County, Ohio in 1890 to Daniel Urschel and Emma (Anna) M Bangert.
A monument to her, designed by Gettysburg resident Anna M. Miller, was erected in 1900 that includes an American flag that flies around the clock.
In 1892 she was again a vice-presidential candidate, nominated by the "National Woman Suffragists' Nominating Convention" on September 21 at Willard's hotel in Boonville, New York presided over by Anna M. Parker, President of the convention.
