4 unusual facts about Moritz von Rohr

Cytometry

In 1904, Moritz von Rohr and August Köhler at Carl Zeiss constructed the first ultraviolet microscope.

Depth of field

Moritz von Rohr also used an object field method, but unlike Merklinger, he used the conventional criterion of a maximum circle of confusion diameter in the image plane, leading to unequal front and rear depths of field.

Orthoscopy

Such a perceptual report by an observer must be distinguished from what Moritz von Rohr called homeomorphic view, in which the depth in a stereoscopic 3D reconstruction is merely geometrically true, see Stereoscopic Depth Rendition.

Stereoscopic depth rendition

This particular condition has been termed homeomorphic by Moritz von Rohr and was contrasted by him with the heteromorphic one in which the r values of the stereoscopic and actual views differ.
