Neckar-Alb Railway

From Mondays to Fridays an InterCity service runs at 06:11 from Tübingen with stops in Reutlingen, Metzingen and Nürtingen and Plochingen via Stuttgart to Düsseldorf and Berlin.

The modern Neckar-Alb Railway consists of two historically independent routes: the suburban line called the Stuttgart–Plochingen line (VzG line number 4701) and the Plochingen–Tübingen line, which was historically a section of the Upper Neckar Railway (Oberen Neckarbahn, VzG line number 4600).


Abtsteinach

Main-Neckar Railway

The station buildings, with the exception of Arheilgen and Egelsbach station all still exist and still show traces of the "old" Main-Neckar Railway style.

Today, the Main-Neckar line shares the load of north-south traffic with the Riedbahn, which runs further to the west in the Rhine valley, from Frankfurt, bypassing Darmstadt, via Groß-Gerau to Mannheim and Worms.
