13 unusual facts about Superfast Ferries


ANEK Lines

On June 8, 2011 ANEK Lines and Superfast Ferries created a joint venture in Piraeus-Heraklion and Patra-Igoumenitsa-Ancona routes with two RO-PAX ships in the first one (the ANEK-owned "Olympic Champion" and the Superfast-owned "Superfast XII") and three in the second one (the ANEK-owned "Hellenic Spirit" and the Superfast-owned "Superfast VI" and "Superfast XI").

Attica Group

The Group’s main operations are with its subsidiary Superfast Ferries which began in 1995 with the launch of its first ships, Superfast I & Superfast II.

Bass Strait ferries

In 2002 the Spirit was replaced with the two ferries previously owned by Superfast Ferries

Igoumenitsa

The Patras, Greece to Brindisi, Italy car–ferry ships of the Hellenic Mediterranean Lines (HML) stop at Igoumenitsa, before crossing the Adriatic Sea and vice versa, as well as the ships of Superfast Ferries, ANEK Lines and several other shipping companies, before going to Ancona, Bari or Venice in Italy, and vice versa.

InterRail

In addition, InterRail global passes include ferry crossings from Patras and Igoumenitsa (Greece) to Ancona and Bari (Italy) operated by Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries (fuel surcharges, port taxes, high season supplements as well as cabin accommodation are extra).

MS Skania

The Superfast I entered service on 14 April 1995 on Superfast Ferries' PatrasAncona route.

MS Spirit of Tasmania II

The Superfast III was the first ship of the second pair (the former pair being Superfast I and Superfast II built in Germany) built for Attica Group's subsidiary Superfast Ferries at Kvaerner Masa-Yards for their Adriatic Sea services from Patras to Ancona.

MS Stena Superfast VII

The Stena Superfast VII was the first ship in a series of four ice-classified ropax ferries built by HDW in Kiel for Superfast Ferries' Baltic Sea services.

MV Atlantic Vision

The ship was built in 2002 as MS Superfast IX by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW) in Kiel, Germany for Attica Group's subsidiary Superfast Ferries.

Rosyth

This service was discontinued by Superfast Ferries in September 2008, but recommenced in May 2009 under the new operator Norfolkline.

Rosyth – Zeebrugge ferry service

Following a detailed consultation and tendering process by the Scottish Executive, the Greek shipping company Superfast Ferries (owned by the Attica Group) were confirmed as the operator of the route.

The current service replaces a passenger and freight service that was operated by Norfolkline from 18 May 2009 until 15 December 2010 (and initially operated by Superfast Ferries between May 2002 and September 2008).

TT-Line Company

the new ship was also a Superfast ship as Spirits I & II this one was Superfast II a German built ferry completed in 1995 for Attica Enterprises's Subsidiary Superfast Ferries.
