We Ski by Namco Bandai Games was the first third-party game to make use of the Wii Balance Board, in conjunction with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk attachment.

Wii Fit was the first game to make use of the Wii Balance Board.

Due to the similarities between the two products, the Wii Balance Board has been compared to the Joyboard, a peripheral released for the Atari VCS in 1982 by Amiga Corporation.


Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009

It is an exercise game which makes use of the Wii Balance Board peripheral and features Jillian Michaels, a fitness expert also seen as a trainer on NBC's television show The Biggest Loser.

In designing new minigames for Wii Fit Plus, Miyamoto desired to create activities that played upon the Stroop effect, requiring coordination of both the player's mind and body; minigames in which the player uses both the Wii Remote and the Wii Balance Board at the same time became a major focus.
