Montezuma's headdress

It became an object of interest to European researchers such as Ferdinand von Hochstetter and Eduard Seler at the end of the 19th century, and its identification as a quetzalapanecayotl is attributed to US American anthropologist Zelia Nuttall.

Powelliphanta hochstetteri

He described it according to the shell only, which geologist German Ferdinand von Hochstetter had brought from the New Zealand.

Reischek's Parakeet

The common name commemorates pioneering naturalist and collector Andreas Reischek, who collected specimens of the parrot in 1888 and who named it Platycercus hochstetteri for the son of his friend, Austrian geologist Ferdinand von Hochstetter, who made a geological survey of New Zealand.
