German railway signalling

Only the S-Bahn systems in Berlin and Hamburg were equipped with newly designed colour-light signals at that time, of the Sv system.

Gustav Krukenberg

It is widely believed that On 1 May, Krukenberg attempted to stem the Soviet advance by ordering sappers to blow up the S-Bahn tunnel under the Landwehr canal causing 25 kilometres of S-Bahn and U-Bahn tunnels to flood, which led to many casualties.

S-Bahn

The Réseau Express Vaudois of Lausanne will be incorporated in the planned S-Bahn Léman (called RER Léman in French-speaking areas) around Lake Geneva (fr. Lac Léman).

S-Bahn services were set up in the course of the Bahn 2000 initiative in Central Switzerland (a collaborative network of S-Bahn Luzern and Stadtbahn Zug), St. Gallen (S-Bahn St. Gallen) and Ticino (Rete celere del Canton Ticino).


Alfred Grenander

Alfred Frederik Elias Grenander, (26 June 1863 in Skövde, Sweden – 14 March 1931 in Berlin), was one of the most prominent architects during the first building period of the Berlin U-Bahn in the first half of the twentieth century.

Alster Valley Railway

Just one year after the signing of the Ohlsdorf Treaty, which was the basis for the Hamburg-Altona City and Suburban Railway—the precursor of the S-Bahn—on 12 December 1905, a community group formed to promote the extension of the suburban railway through Ohlsdorf to the Alster Valley and beyond.

DB Class 210

However, the Deutsche Bahn decided that the successor to this locomotive should have a more powerful gas turbine and the AVCO Lycoming T 53-L13 was selected which had already been selected for use in the Bundeswehr Helicopter Bell UH-1 D.

Dieburg station

From 14 December 2003, the Rodgau Railway between Offenbach and Rödermark-Ober-Roden became part of the Rhine-Main S-Bahn, but the section between Ober-Roden and Dieburg was not included.

Düsseldorf-Bilk

Düsseldorf-Bilk station is now served only by the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn (slow regional trains) and is connected by the lines S 8, S 11 and S 28 to Neuss, Mönchengladbach, Kaarst, Wuppertal, Hagen, Erkrath, Mettmann, Dormagen, Cologne and other parts of Düsseldorf (Central station, Düsseldorf-Gerresheim,...).

Essen Hauptbahnhof

The official opening took place on 16 January 2010 in the presence of Transport Minister Peter Ramsauer, North Rhine-Westphalia Minister-President Jürgen Rüttgers and Deutsche Bahn CEO Rüdiger Grube.

EuroCity

Preparations for privatisation of Deutsche Bahn led to the discontinuation of names for the EuroCity services in Allgäu on 15 December 2002, and for the other German-operated EC trains on 12 December 2004.

Feldafing

Feldafing station is served in either twenty or forty minute intervals by S-Bahn line 6 of the Munich S-Bahn towards the neighboring Tutzing station or towards Munich.

Frankfurt Griesheim station

The station is now served only by S-Bahn lines S1 (WiesbadenRödermark-Ober-Roden) and S2 (NiedernhausenDietzenbach).

Frankfurt Stadion station

Culminating at 2,160 metres above sea level, it is an old mountainous section of the Furka-Oberalp-Bahn (FOB) that was abandoned after the construction of the Furka Tunnel.

Gornja Radgona railway station

It was opened on 16 October 1890, as part of the extension of the Radkersburger Bahn from Bad Radkersburg, in present day Austria, to Ljutomer (then known as Luttenberg), in present day Slovenia.

Hamburg-Neugraben station

In January 2008 the S-Bahn track to Stade via Neu Wulmstorf and Buxtehude was completed and through services were added to the timetable.

Hanover S-Bahn

The network was extended via the Deister Railway to Barsinghausen, Bad Nenndorf and Haste and also via Springe to Hamelin.

Herford–Himmighausen railway

After the gradually introduction a regular-interval service, which culminated in NRW-Takt (North Rhine-Westphalia's current co-ordinated regular-interval service), the trains ran every hour on the Paderborn–Detmold–Herford route and continued alternately to/from Bielefeld (RB 72, Ostwestfalen-Bahn, "East Westphalian railway") or Bad Bentheim (RB 62, Der Cherusker, "The Cherusci").

Hermann, Freiherr von Soden

His grave is preserved in the Protestant Friedhof II der Jerusalems- und Neuen Kirchengemeinde (Cemetery No. II of the congregations of Jerusalem's Church and New Church) in Berlin-Kreuzberg, south of Hallesches Tor.

Koblenz, Switzerland

Koblenz station is served by Zurich S-Bahn line S41, which links Winterthur and Waldshut, and Aargau S-Bahn line S27, which links Baden and Koblenz, with alternate trains continuing to either Waldshut or Bad Zurzach.

Limes Railway

The line is only 5.2 kilometres long and is served by S-Bahn line S3, connecting Bad Soden station—which is a terminus also used by the Soden Railway—via Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof to Darmstadt Hbf.

Ludwigsburg station

Track 2 is used by S-Bahn services to Bietigheim or Marbach.

München Englschalking station

Independent of the city government's plans, Deutsche Bahn is considering the construction of a short S-Bahn tunnel to make the grade crossing at the station redundant as it constantly leads to traffic jams.

München Hirschgarten station

München Hirschgarten is a Munich S-Bahn railway station on the main line between Laim and Donnersbergerbrücke railway stations at Friedenheimer Brücke.

München Isartor station

Because the S-Bahn trunk line passes under the Isar between the stations of Isartor and Rosenheimerplatz just to the east of the station, both tubes are fitted with flood gates so that the tunnel can be sealed watertight, so that in the event of flooding of the Isar the stations lying to the west are not also flooded.

Munich S-Bahn

Thus the Paracelsus Private Medical University of Salzburg (PMU) and the Salzburg State Hospital will receive a connection to the new S-Bahn.

A new railway bridge has already been built over the Salzach in the course of the building of a third track in central Salzburg from Salzburg Central Station to Taxham.

Syntegra

In mid-2006 prototype motors rated 110 kW, with claimed 96% efficiency, were fitted to an ex-Munich U-Bahn vehicle for testing at the Wegberg-Wildenrath test circuit.

The design was unveiled at Innotrans in 2006, and began service trials in 2008 on the Munich U-Bahn.

TAG Tegernsee Immobilien und Beteiligung

Until 1998 as Tegernsee-Bahn (Tegernsee Railway) it operated the railway line from Schaftlach via Gmund to Tegernsee.

Taunus Railway

Frankfurt Airport loop

The line is part of the Frankfurt S-Bahn network, connecting Frankfurt Central Station with Frankfurt Airport regional station at Frankfurt Airport and Kelsterbach station at Kelsterbach, where it connects with the Main line, for services to and from Mainz and Wiesbaden.

Frankfurt Hauptwache station

Deutsche Bundesbahn committed to build an S-Bahn network in 1962, but no new line was opened until 28 May 1978, when the first section of the City Tunnel from the central station to Hauptwache was opened.

Frankfurt Sindlingen station

The only trains that stops at Frankfurt-Sindlingen station is S-Bahn line S 1 running between Rödermark-Ober Roden and Wiesbaden every 30 minutes during the day, every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 60 minutes during quite periods.

Halstenbek station

Halstenbek station is on the Hamburg-Altona–Kiel line and is a railway station serviced by the city trains of the Hamburg S-Bahn, managed by DB Station&Service for the Hamburg S-Bahn plc, overseen by the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund.

Messe Frankfurt

By public transport it can be reached easily via two train stations: With the S-Bahn lines S3, S4, S5, S6 (Messe station), with the U-Bahn line U4 and the tram lines 16 and 17 (Festhalle/Messe station).

München Harras station

It serves as an important transportation hub for the borough, providing interchange between U-Bahn, S-Bahn, local bus services as well as limited regional railway services on the Bayerische Oberlandbahn main line.

Stuttgart S-Bahn

Work was completed in September 1978 and operation of the Stuttgart S-Bahn began with three lines (all beginning at Schwabstraße station): the S1 to Plochingen via Esslingen, the S4 to Ludwigsburg and the S6 to Weil der Stadt via Feuerbach and Leonberg.

Westercelle
