Modérantisme

During the French Revolution, modérantisme or the faction des modérés (faction of the moderates) was the name given to the Girondists and then to the Dantonistes by the Montagnards.

The Mountain

The Mountain (French: La Montagne) is a political group during the French Revolution whose members, called Montagnards, sat on the highest benches in the Assembly.

After the February Revolution of 1848, the left wing faction in the Constituent Assembly elected that year was called "The Mountain." (see: The Mountain (1849)).

In addition, several members were close to the mountain of the Enragés led by Jacques Roux, or Hebertism led by Jacques René Hébert.

The Mountain's High

The song reached the number two spot in September 1961 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent two weeks there, held out of number one by Bobby Vee's "Take Good Care of My Baby."


Alfa Romeo 75

After qualifying 21st, co-driver Lucio Cesario destroyed the front of the 75 in a crash at the top of the mountain on lap 34 of the race which forced the cars withdrawal from the Calder Park and Wellington rounds of the WTCC.

Anna Kashfi

The actress made her debut screen appearance using the stage name Anna Kashfi as a Hindu girl in The Mountain (1956) for Paramount with Spencer Tracy and Robert Wagner.

Jean-Pierre-André Amar

In 1790, Amar was elected vice-president of the Grenoble directory, and became a deputy to the National Convention for the département of Isère, and joined The Mountain, voting in favor of Louis XVI's execution during his trial.

He was next sent on a mission to Orléans and the Vendée, in which he acted as a committed Montagnard, before becoming a member of the Committee of General Security, in which he was put in charge of a report on the rebel and federalist administrators who resisted the events of 31 May.

Mitch Pileggi
