Gegepterus

The genus name is derived from Manchu ge ge, the title of a princess, in reference to the dainty gracility of the specimen, and a Latinised Greek pteron, "wing".

Zizhi Tongjian

This condensed version was itself later translated into Manchu language, upon the request of Qing Dynasty Kangxi Emperor.


Aisin Gioro

The word aisin means gold in the Manchu language, and "gioro" is the name of the place in present day Yilan, Heilongjiang Province.

Joachim Bouvet

While engaged in this work, the two Jesuits wrote several mathematical treatises in the Manchu language which the emperor caused to be translated into Chinese, adding the prefaces himself.
