Innu language

Widely heard hit songs with Innu-language lyrics have included Ish-kuess ("Girl"), E Uassiuian ("My Childhood"), Tipatshimun ("Song of the devil") and in particular Akua tuta ("Take care of yourself"), which appeared on soundtrack compilations for the popular television series Due South and the documentary Music for The Native Americans.

Montagnais

Montagnais (in French) therefore has often been mistakenly translated to Montagnais (in English) which now refers to the Montagnais (Innu language) of northern Quebec and not the Dene (Chipewyan people).


Music of Newfoundland and Labrador

Modern Newfoundland & Labrador musicians include: Hey Rosetta!, Harry Martin, as well as folk group The Flummies, Byron "Fiddler" Chaulk, rock musician David Penashue of Tipatchimun (who sings Innu language rock), Canadian folk-rock band Great Big Sea.
